Dr. Ryan Rhodes, director of the Behavioural Medicine Lab (BMED) and professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria, studies why that is and how to motivate people to become more active. Dr. Rhodes' primary research and teaching area is focused on the psychology of physical activity and sedentary behaviour. He researches a variety of motivations to get people off the couch and into a more active lifestyle. The work he does in his lab attempts to match motivation strategies to age groups.
