Dr Timothy Lim Yong Kuei is Deputy Head and Senior Consultant Gynaecologic Oncologist in the Department of Gynaecological Oncology, Division of O&G, KK Womenâs & Childrenâs Hospital. He is also Head of the PreâInvasive & Screening Unit, Colposcopy Suites.
He obtained his undergraduate medical degree at the National University of Singapore in 1998. Thereafter, he started his O&G training and obtained the MRCOG in London, UK in 2003.
He started his gynaecological oncology fellowship training in the Department of Gynaecological Oncology in 2006 and was awarded the HMDP to spend a year as a clinical fellow in the Department of Surgical Oncology, Institute Claudius Regaud Cancer Center, Toulouse, France. He also obtained the Certificate in Advanced Laparoscopy for Gynaecological Oncology and Gynaecology in 2008 at the European institute of Telesurgery, IRCAD, Strasbourg, France. He also obtained the certification for the DaâVinci Robotic system in July 2012, Hong Kong.
Professionally, he is the current Honorary Secretary of the O&G Society of Singapore (OGSS) and a council member of the Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology of Singapore (SCCPS). He is also a member of the Asian Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ASGO) as well as an associate member of European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). He is currently the chairman of the colposcopy accreditation committee, KKH.
He is active in undergraduate teaching and is an adjunct assistant professor at the Dukeâs NUS Graduate Medical School as well as an adjunct assistant professor of the YLL Medical School, National University of Singapore. He was awarded the Best Clinical Teacher Award in 2007.
As a clinical researcher, he has published more than 20 peer reviewed papers. He is also the principal investigator in several multicentre HPV vaccine clinical trials as well as coâinvestigator in several multicentre chemotherapy trials in KK hospital. His current research is in HPV genotyping in collaboration with IMB/A*Star. He sits in the editorial board of the World Journal of Clinical Cases and is an associate editor of the Singapore Journal of O&G. He is also a reviewer for scientific articles submitted to the Singapore Medical Journal and the Journal of Gynecologic Oncology. He also obtained the Best Clinical Abstract (Gynecological Cancer) award at the 10th RCOG International Scientific Congress in June 2012.
His main interest is in human papilloma virus and diseases of the genital tract as well as complex pelvic surgery and advanced laparoscopic and robotic cancer surgery.
