Biography

Dr. Beach obtained his PhD in Neuroscience with Drs. Edith and Patrick McGeer in Vancouver, BC, Canada and subsequently trained in neuropathology, obtaining Canadian specialty (board) certification (FRCPC) in 1993. Following 4 years at UBC, during which time he was an Assistant Professor, hospital diagnostician and researcher, Dr. Beach came to SHRI in 1997, where he assumed directorship of the Civin Laboratory for Neuropathology and the Brain and Body Donation Program. Dr. Beach’s leadership experience includes service as Principal Investigator of the NINDS National Brain and Tissue Resource for Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders, Director of the Neuropathology Core of the NIA Arizona Alzheimer’s Disease Core Center (ADCC), Co-Principal Investigator and Neuropathology Core Director of the Arizona Parkinson’s Disease Research Center, leader of a multi-investigator project funded by the Science Foundation Arizona and Co-Principal Investigator of a multi-investigator project funded by the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Dr. Beach has been an author or co-author on more than 200 peer-reviewed publications as listed by the US National Library of Medicine (PubMed).
