Biography
Dr. Sharad joined the Basic Science Research Program of Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) in December 2009 as Postdoctoral Fellow and became Jr. Staff Scientist of in June 2015. He is working in the Section for Gene Regulation and Bioinformatics and in Gene Functions and Molecular Mechanisms section, at the Department of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). He is also involved in integrating research activities within the translational research program at CPDR in collaboration with WRAMC and AFIP.
Dr. Sharad integrates prostate cancer research activities and do research efforts towards the exploration of regulation, expression and functions of prostate cancer and androgen --regulated genes. His scientific interests focus on understanding molecular mechanisms underlying cancer initiation and development. His specific goal is to determine key elements of prostate tumorigenesis, to identify biological functions of genes relevant to the development of normal prostate and prostate cancer (CaP) and to develop new approaches towards the treatment of CaP by synergizing state-of-the-art molecular biology, cancer biology, in silico bioinformatics and genetic engineered mouse model methodologies using in vivo and ex vivo approaches. He has an impressive and consistent publication record in quality scientific journals. He was invited speaker in several national and international conferences and served as reviewer for many of the peer-reviewed journals.
