South Korea is an East Asian nation on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, shares one of the world’s most heavily militarized borders with North Korea. South Korea is mostly surrounded by water and has 2,413 kilometres of coast line along three seas.

Geographically, the whole country consists of two major islands, they are, Geojedo, Jeju Province. Altogether, the country is having 30 islands. Unlike Japan or the northern provinces of China, the Korean Peninsula is geologically stable.

South Korea is a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the G-20 major economies. South Korea has a market economy that ranks 11th in the world by nominal GDP and 13th by purchasing power parity (PPP). South Korean economy's high growth potential and apparent structural stability. South Korea had one of the world's fastest growing economies from the early 1960s to the late 1990s, and remains one of the fastest growing developed countries in the 2000s.

South Korea has established infrastructure for advanced reproductive technology, biological regulatory mechanism and endocrinology. In Physiology or Medicine, this island nation produced 21 Nobel laureates so far.
