India, The name may allude to either the area of Greater India (the Indian subcontinent) or to the Republic of India. India is authoritatively known as Republic of India (IAST: Bharat Ganarajya).

The diversity in Indian scape gives it a feel of a whole continent.

The Economy of India is the seventh-largest in the world by nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity (PPP).Before India's autonomy from Britain in 1947, just 25 restorative schools existed in the whole nation. Today, there are more than 355. In 1951, doctors over the field of neurology and neurosurgery joined to make the Neurological Society of India (NSI). After four decades in 1991, neurologists fanned out to build up a different association called the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN). Professor Baldev Singh, Dr. Vimla Virmani, Dr. M. C. Maheshwari and Dr. Gulshan K. Ahuja are names who played major role in the growth of neurology. The formation of the Neurological Society of India (NSI) in 1951 was a major initiative of the four stalwarts, Dr. Jacob Chandy, Dr. Baldev Singh, Dr. B. Ramamurthy and Dr. S. T. Narasimhan with all specialties of neurosciences involved in the activities and growth of the society. The different Neurology Journals are also beneficial in promiting the research work.
