Abstract

The successful application of flotation is now over 100 years old. However in a practical sense, it still remains predominantly an art rather than a quantifiable science. Moreover, the laboratory testing, interpretation and application of the technology can still be tedious, time consuming and costly. This paper outlines the use of statistical design of experimentation for rapid optimization of lotation testing with limited sample utilization. This result in less costly required testing, a more thorough understanding of the results and the ability to simultaneously optimize several variables and outcomes at once.
