Biography

Dr. Brodbeck holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. Her graduate training included extensive clinical-research training/work experience in the areas of treatment outcome research, adult anxiety disorders, social skills training to improve functioning in chronic schizophrenia, and the DSM-III-R diagnostic validity trials. She completed an APA-approved internship at the Los Angeles County – University of Southern California Medical Center (LAC-USC). During her internship, Dr. Brodbeck completed outpatient and psychiatric emergency room rotations with an emphasis on serving a range of first generation immigrant and economically-disadvantaged client populations. Prior to joining Chapman, she served as a core faculty member in the Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Psychology program at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia for three years. Since joining Chapman in 1994, Dr. Brodbeck has taught a range of graduate and undergraduate courses including abnormal psychology, advanced psychopathology, critical thinking, cross-cultural psychology, ethics and professional issues, history and systems, and applied research/bibliographic methods. She is a member of the American Association of University Women, American Psychological Association, Association for Psychological Science, Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Dr. Brodbeck previously served as a volunteer board member for Forgotten Victims, Inc., a nonprofit group that assists survivors of motor vehicle accidents that have involved catastrophic injury or death. She has also provided extensive volunteer service to a range of professional organizations and community agencies over the years.
