Aligarh Muslim University is public university with an academic staff of 2000 and students of 30,000. It is located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh in India. The motto of the university is “allama I –insane-ma-iam-ya-iam”. “the motto in English is taught man what he did not know”. It was established by Syed Ahmad Khan as Mohammedan Anglo –Oriental college. The University is one of the best educational institutions in India. The university is open to all irrespective of caste, creed religion and gender. Aligarh Muslim University has established centers in malappuram in kerala and murshidabad in west Bengal. In November 2013 a new campus has been started in kishanganj. India today ranked 5th in 2012.
