The first Italian association of cardiologists founded in 1935, named ‘Italian Society of Cardiology’ (Società Italiana di Cardiologia). As research progress there is a demand for cardiology services led to found a new association for Cardiologists. Thereofre, in 1963, the Italian Association of Hospital Cardiologists (Associazione Nazionale Medici Cardiologi Ospedalieri) was founded. However, in 1998 the SIC, ANMCO and other cardiovascular societies were brought together to form Italian Federation of Cardiology (Federazione Italiana di Cardiologia). Being a Non-Profit Foundation, and having more than 8000 researchers FIC stood top among the other societies by providing the high quality cardiovascular care and promoting cardiovascular research.

The FIC has two official Cardiology journals: the Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Giornale Italiano di Cardiologia, which are in the top of cardiology journals Italy. Journal of Clinical & Experimental Cardiology is added to the list of cardiology journals Italy because of its quality research and reputation.
