Biography

I graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Bahia in 1984. I concluded my doctoral in science in 2002 and I concluded my post-doctoral fellowship in cardiology in 2010 at University of São Paulo Medical School and actually I work as an associate research in the Laboratory of Echocardiography of the Heart Institute (InCor), University of São Paulo, USP, Brazil. At InCor I also collaborate as researcher with various groups performing echocardiograms in animal models, rats and mice, involving models of Experimental Hypertension, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, and vascular and molecular biology. I work as a clinical cardiologist and Director of Cardiology at Pró-Coração, a Cardiological Clinic. I am a physician´s clinical staff of the Hospital do Coração da Associação do Sanatório Sírio. I also teach for undergraduate students at Federal University of ABC, São Paulo, Brazil since 2013. I am an effective member of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology and I was a board member of the Department of Cardiovascular Imaging from 2009 to 2011. I am fellow of the following associations: American Society of Echocardiography, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and European Society of Cardiology. I am currently a reviewer of articles for the following journals: Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia, International Journal of Cardiology, Medicine and African Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology. I also reviewed submissions to Frontiers in Public Health, Journal Neonatology and Clinical Pediatrics, Journal of Translational Medicine, International Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Cellular Physiology and Journal Clinical Interventions in Aging. I also got some awards: 2015 – Best Free Themes Award – Category Clinical Research, Brazilian Congress of Atherosclerosis. 2013 - 2nd best youth work in the annual meeting of the Brazilian Society of Experimental Biology; Best Free Theme Award – Category Basic Research, State of São Paulo Cardiology Society; Best Brazilian abstract – 62nd American College of Cardiology Congress San Francisco, USA. 2012 Honorable Mention at the Third Symposium of Postgraduate morpho functional sciences of the Department of Anatomy ICB/USP, São Paulo, Brazil; Best poster in the Symposium of Genomics and Sports – Federal University of São Paulo; Best job in the department of physical education – Basic research Category, Society of Cardiology of the State of São Paulo. 2011 - Best original contributions award in basic sciences, Society of Cardiology of the State of São Paulo. 2010 - Third best report of the challenge of knowledge – Regional stage of São Paulo, Laboratory Novartis. 2009 - Piauí Medical Merit Award 2009 for best research in the medical field of the year, Terezina/PI; Best original contributions award in the Image Category, Atherosclerosis Department of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology; Best original contributions award in basic sciences, Brazilian Society of Cardiology. 2002 - Jonas Talberg Award (Best job of the Congress), Brazilian Society of Echocardiography; Josef Feher Award (best job Young Cardiologist), Society of Cardiology of the State of São Paulo; Rio Park Award of the Brazilian College of Surgeons, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 2001 - Award Best Experimental Job, Brazilian Society of Echocardiography. I also published 45 articles in medical journals as author or co-author, 4 book chapters, one book as co-editor and presented 69 works at congresses, events, conferences, exhibitions and fairs.
