Abstract

Statement of the Problem: Bangladesh-despite being a resource poor setting, has made remarkable progress over the past decades to improve the health of its population. However, these achievements are unequal and recently health indicators have stagnated resulting in no further progress toward reducing maternal and child mortality. Add to this; Bangladesh is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world and is recognized as one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change. Disadvantaged populations and people with disabilities living in Khulna and Barishal coastal regions of Bangladesh . They have lack of access to inclusive, quality, affordable essential primary health care services. Essential health care services are unavailable in hard to reach areas and where services should be available in urban centers, the quality of care is often poor or not consistently available. High out of pocket expenditure and sub-optimal care seeking practices and health behaviors are limiting the demand for services. The aim of this Concern Worldwide-led consortium is to improve health, family planning and nutrition outcomes among targeted disadvantaged populations and people with disabilities through reductions in morbidity and mortality and increased Universal Health Coverage. In order to achieve this, essential primary health services must be available. Disadvantaged populations and people with disabilities including those in hard-to-reach areas, must have timely access to affordable, quality essential primary health services that are preventative, curative, and inclusive. Conclusion: The proposed programme will cover 268 5303 disadvantaged and 140,345 people with disabilities in vulnerable areas in Khulna and Barishal Divisions. This includes fifteen upazilas and nine municipalities of Khulna and Barishal Division. This will be achieved through a robust, inclusive health system strengthening approach
