Biography
Jacqui was based at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme in Blantyre, Malawi, from 2001 to 2012. Her research was part of an ongoing paediatric malaria clinicohistopathology study and investigated the genetic diversity of Plasmodium falciparum sequestered in the organs of paediatric malaria patients, and how their expression of variant antigens differ by site of sequestration. She went on to study host-parasite adhesive interactions, and P. falciparum genetic diversity in a Malawian rural community through whole genome sequencing in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. She supervised two PhD students and one post-doctoral scientist.
