She began her Professorship in CUNY in 1986 and her Professorship in NYU Langone, NY, 2000. Patricia is the inventor of 4 patents, held by CUNY and NYU Langone and she is a member of Editorial Boards in Austria, Switzerland and China. Patricia has published extensively, over 200 publications and presentations and has founded the Broderick Brain Foundation. She has mentored over 100 undergraduate, graduate students, medical doctors and industrial scientists in Micro- and Nanotechnology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience.

Sun has published over 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Gary L Bowlin Professor and Louis and Ruth Harris Exceptional Scholar Professorship of Biomedical Engineering Virginia Commonwealth University VCU is the Director of the Tissue Engineering Laboratory Prior to obtaining his PhD Dr Bowlin worked as a Process Engineer for NUCON International Inc designing organic solvent recovery systems Dr Bowlin received the PhD degree in biomedical engineering from The University of Akron Dr Bowlin joined the faculty of the VCU School of Engineering in 1997 He has extensive teaching and research experience in cardiovascular materials and tissue engineering As a researcher he has been involved and has published many articles and chapters dealing with the area of vascular tissue engineering and biopolymer processing for tissue engineering scaffolds He also holds seven US patents and is a CoFounding inventor of NanoMatrix Inc based on electrospinning tissue engineering scaffold technology which was sold to Organogenesis Inc He is also a coinventor on technology WoundStat™ that was FDA approved and commercialized by TraumaCure Inc for controlling bleeding in severe traumatic injuries Dr Bowlin is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Biomedical Engineering Society American Society of Patent Holders Tissue Engineering Society International and the International Society of Applied Cardiovascular Biology

Dr. George Perry received his PhD in Marine Biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California at San Diego. He completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Cell Biology, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.Dr. Perry joined the UTSA faculty in 2006 from Case Western Reserve University where he was Professor of Pathology and Neurosciences and Chair of the Department of Pathology. He is also distinguished as one of the top 20 Alzheimers disease researchers with over 800 publications, one of the top 100 most-cited scientists in Neuroscience & Behavior and one of the top 25 scientists in Free Radical research . He currently serves as and President for the American Association of Neuropathologists. He is on the editorial board of over 60 journals including American Journal of Pathology and Journal of Biological Chemistry, and is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Research Interest :

His studies are focused on the mechanism of formation and physiological consequences of the cytopathology of Alzheimer disease. We have shown that oxidative damage is the initial cytopathology in Alzheimer disease. They are working to determine the sequence of events leading to neuronal oxidative damage and the source of the increased oxygen radicals. Their current studies focus on (i) the mechanism for RNA-based redox metal binding; (ii) the consequences of RNA oxidation on protein synthesis rate and fidelity; (iii) the role of redox active metals in mediating prooxidant and antioxidant properties; (iv) the signal transduction pathways altered in Alzheimer disease that allow neurons to evade apoptosis; and (v) mechanism of phosphorylation control of oxidative damage to neurofilament proteins.

Dr. Slaughter·s interests are in the areas of sensor-processor integration to realize ultrafast and ultralow-power integrated signal processing hardware that covers biological systems, wireless network communications, bioelectronics design and theory, microprocessors and microcontrollers (embedded systems), enzyme-based biosensors, the design of implantable biosensors systems, static and dynamic cell-based biosensors, and the applications of artificial neural network (ANN) for pattern recognition of pharmacological agents or neurotoxins. Additional interest include chemical and biosensor devices based on redox-active and electroconductive polymers; thin film polymer films fabricated on metallic and semiconductor device; and AC impedance spectroscopy.

Liming Dai joined Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in fall 2009 as the Kent Hale Smith Professor in the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering. He is also director of the Center of Advanced Science and Engineering for Carbon (CASE4Carbon). Dr. Dai received a BSc degree from Zhejiang University in 1983, and a PhD from the Australian National University under the supervision of Professor John White in 1991. He accepted a postdoctoral fellowship from the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, and two years later became a visiting follow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He spent 10 years with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Australia. Before joining the CWRU, he was an associate professor of polymer engineering at the University of Akron and the Wright Brothers Institute Endowed Chair Professor of Nanomaterials at the University of Dayton.

Mark received his doctorate from the University of Oxford in 1989 under the supervision of Professor Sir Jack Baldwin, followed by post-doctoral studies at Harvard Medical School and returned to the UK as a Royal Society Fellow at Southampton University in the early 90’s. In 1996 at the age of 34 he was made a Professor of Combinatorial Chemistry. He has been elected to fellowships of both the Royal Society of Chemistry and Edinburgh, and has held the Novartis Young Investigator Award, the Zeneca Research Award for Organic Chemistry, the GlaxoWellcome Award for Innovative Chemistry, the Pfizer Award in Organic chemistry and more recently, the Novartis Chemistry Lectureship and the Award from the Society of Combinatorial Sciences.
