Ashar Malik completed PG Diploma in Public Administration at University of Peshawar, Pakistan (1994 – 1995) at , MS in Economics at University of Peshawar, Pakistan (1991 – 1993) and MSc in Health Economics at University of York, UK (2004 – 2006), completed BA, Economics & Statistics at Islamia Collage Peshawar, Pakistan (1988 – 1990). He worked as a Consultant at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH from 2006 – 2007 (1 year). He also worked as a Research Assocaite at Ministry of Health, Pakistan from 2006 – 2007 (1 year). He worked as a Research Associate at IMS Health, Sydney Australia from June 2005 – September 2005 (4 months) and worked as a Research Associate (health economics) at National Health Policy Unit, Islamabad. Currently he is working as a Senior Instructor, Department of Community Health Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Medical College, The Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan since October 2007 – Present (8 years 4 months).
