He is Graduated in Genetics Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1988), Master of Science (Microbiology) from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1991) and PhD in Science (Microbiology) from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1995) . He is currently a full professor of Virology discipline of the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, Universidade Federal Fluminense. He is the coordinator of the Institutional Development Programme (PDI) of PROP / UFF (research Proreitoria and post graduation UFF), equipment management program coordinator and multi-user laboratories PROP UFF / Finep and coordination of the pg program in microbiology and applied parasitology (PPGMPA) the Biomedical Institute.

Research Interest

He has experience in microbiology, with emphasis in Medical Microbiology, acting on the following topics: hpv, PCR, cancer, neoplasia and laboratory diagnosis. Noteworthy are the studies of molecular phylogenetic and viral epidemiology. In addition to studies on viruses and cancer, develops projects in the area of ​​cancer epigenetics, in particular, research on gene methylation.
