Ioanna G. Alexandropoulou studied Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Democritus University of Thrace. She completed her PhD, in April 2013, in Public Health and Molecular Epidemiology from Laboratory of Hygiene and Environmental Protection in Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace. Her current position is PhD Molecular Biologist at Regional Public Health Laboratory of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Region of Hellenic Centre for Diseases Control and Prevention in Alexandroupolis, Greece. She is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Environmental Engineering, Laboratory of Wastewater Management and Treatment Technologies, Democritus University of Thrace in Greece. She is also currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the in the Department of Medical School, Laboratory of Medical Microbiology at Democritus University of Thrace in Greece.

Research Interest

Research interests  mailny  focusses on Legionella control, Public Health, Molecular Microbiology, Molecular Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases, Clinical Microbiology, Environmental Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Hospital-acquired infections, Environmental Protection, Water Treatment, Waterborne diseases, Environmental Health, Development of Molecular Techniques, Outbreak Investigation, Dialysis Water Qualit. Her research areas of interest are clinical and environmental bacteriology and molecular techniques such as PCR, Real Time PCR, RAPD, PFGE, Sequencing analysis and Phylogenetics.
