Pedro Fernandes

Head of Spine Surgery Unit – Orthopaedic and trauma department – Hospital de Santa Maria, Portugal


Pedro Fernandes completed his education in University of Lisbon, Portugal. He had experience as Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, Portugal. He had the previous experience in University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine as a Spine Fellow and at the Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo, EPE as a specialist in the department of Orthopedics and Traumatology. He is currently working as a head of spine surgery unit at Hospital & Health Care, Hospital da Luz, Hospital de Santa Maria in the department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Lisbon Area, Portugal. His international experience includes various programs, contributions and participation in different countries for diverse fields of study.  His research interests reflect in his wide range of publications in various national and international journals.  

Research Interest

Pedro Fernandes research interest is mainly focussed in the field of orthopedics and traumatology. His research interest also includes study on tuberculosis infection and its treatment. His research interest is also focussed in developing the new methods in the surgical treatment of tuberculosis infection with percutaneous spinal instrummentation.
