Biography

Suresh Challa has obtained his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati in the year 1993 and received Gold Medal for being the first rank holder in the university. He secured his Ph.D in Biochemical Toxicology from the same university. His research interests include Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Nutritional Biochemistry and Toxicology and Environmental Toxicology. He has handled different projects related to Lead toxicity and its protection by different neuroprotective compounds in Human SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cell lines, Synthesis of Betulinic acid like derivatives and their anti-cancer effects, Vitamin E in green leafy vegetables, fluorosis, hemoglobinopathies and health and morbidity profiles of various tribes. Presently handling three extramural grants in he areas of phytoestrogens and osteoporosis and also on the mechanisms of different neuro-protective compounds against lead induced toxicity and also during Alzheimer’s disease. He is recognized as Ph.D research supervisor at Osmania university, Nagarjuna University and JNTU, Hyderabad and supervising three research students leading to Ph.D. Dr. Suresh has received NIH Visiting Scientist Fellowship and conducted research [2004-2005 (one year); 2010-2012 (two years)] on Lead and amyloid Neurotoxicity and protection by different neuroprotective compounds in Neurocellular models of Brain, Synthesis of Betulinic acid like derivatives and their anti-cancer effects, phytoestrogens and their role in the adipocyte cell metabolism at Savanna State University, Savannah, Georgia, USA. He is a Fellow of Association of Biotechnology and Pharmacy (FABP) and an active member of several scientific bodies.
