Dr. Samir Sukkar is chief of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition Unit in Scientific Institute San Martino University –Hospital, Genoa, Italy. He is the Founder and Editor-in –chief of Mediterranean Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism (Official Journal of the Italian Association for Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition). He is contract professor in the school of specialty of Gastroenterology, Clinical Nutrition, and Hygiene of the Medicine Faculty in Genoa University. His main clinical activity is devoted, to the treatment obesity, Metabolic Sindrome and eating disorders. Moreover he dedicated himself to the physiopathological study of neoplastic cachexia and malnutrition in non-neoplastic pathologies ( gastroenterological, neurological, othorinolaringoiatric and surgical diseases). He is author or coauthor of more than 200 publications on scientific journal or congress abstracts on nutritional, gastroenterological , oncological issues. He has attended 280 National and International medical Congress as Scientific Supervisor for communications on scientific abstracts. He is member of the following Scientific Societies:
- European Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ESPEN)
- Italian Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (SINPE)
- Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED) -European Society of Gastorintestinal Endoscopy (ESGE)
