Biography

Doctor Bugeza James holds a Masters degree in Veterinary Preventive Medicine (MVPM-Field Epidemiology Track) from Makerere University. He has 18 years experience in livestock development particularly livestock disease prevention and control, dry land management, animal food production and water for production in dry land ecosystems. Dr. Bugeza James is a Participatory Epidemiology (PE) practitioner and is a certified trainer under the Participatory Epidemiology Network for Animal and Public Health (PENAPH). He is a founder member, current secretary and a member of the board of trustees for the Participatory Epidemiology Network in Uganda (PENU) a non government organization formed to strengthening community based responses to national, regional and global health issues through multidisciplinary participatory epidemiology approaches. He is a member of the Uganda Veterinary Association (UVA) and a strong advocate of the one health approach to disease management and represents PENU on the One Health Technical Working Group (OHTWG). Currently, Dr. Bugeza James is a Research Officer under the Livestock Health Department at the National Livestock Resources Research Institute. He is a member of the disciplinary committee of the institute.
