Germany is a federal parliamentary republic in West-Central Europe. Officially it is known as the Federal Republic of Germany. Its capital city is Berlin.

It is one of the most popular migration destination in the world. Germany includes 16 states. Germanic tribes have occupied the northern parts of current. After a period of Allied occupation, two German states were founded: the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic. In 1990, the country was reunified. Germany lies in Western and Central Europe. It is surrounded with Denmark bordering to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria to the southeast, Switzerland to the south-southwest, France, Luxembourg and Belgium lie to the west, and the Netherlands to the northwest.

Germany has economy which is socially marketed. It has a large capital stock. It is the world's third largest exporter of goods and has the largest national economy in Europe which is also the world's fourth largest by nominal GDP and the fifth one by PPP. Germany has a long history of scientific research into plant genetic resources. In late 1800s, German scientists recommended the collection of handcars because of the danger of them dying out. The breeding attempts made at the end of the 19th century mainly resulted from the use of genetic resources practiced by farmers. International Livestock Research Institute addresses seven global livestock development challenges including vaccine and diagnostic technologies for orphan animal diseases, animal genetic resources.
