Russia is the largest country in the world, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area that is about 11.46% of the Earth's land area. It has a vast territory that occupies the east of Europe and the north of Asia. It is the world's ninth most populous country covering about 144 million people as per the census of 2015.

Area wise it is the largest country in the world covering about 17,075,400 square kilometers. It has a wide natural resource base, including major deposits of timber, petroleum, natural gas, coal, ores and other mineral resources.
Economy of the Country:
The Russian economy rank stands at the tenth position by nominal GDP and sixth by purchasing power parity in 2015. It is a great power and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, a member of the G20, the Council of Europe, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as being the leading member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and one of the 5 members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), along with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
