Abstract

After going through the published articles in the current issue of the above said journal, the following points are worthy of attention as noted by me:

1. The article “Respecting the Root Canal Anatomy Three Dimensionally Using Self Adjusting File (SAF) - A Novel Approach” lacks the illustration of the novel approach using self-adjusting file with the help of figures which is absent in the manuscript [1,2].

2. The article “Correction of Midline Diastema and Rotated Central Incisors Using a Versatile Fixed Partial Appliance in Mixed Dentition: A Case Report” describes a controversial treatment plan of correcting a midline diastema by performing a frenectomy of maxillary labial frenum first and then closing the midline space with a fixed partial appliance. This plan is totally against the recommended protocol of aligning the teeth and closure of space of midline diastema first and then going for the frenectomy procedure later, which, is delayed as it leads to scar tissue formation at the surgical site. In the above article the chances of relapse are more as the scar tissue stretch will tend to open the diastema again after the removal of the fixed appliance [3,4].

3. The article “Management of Skeletal Class II Malocclusion with Functional Regulator II” lacks the presence of quality radiographs i.e Lateral Cephalogram and OPG especially the pretreatment ones. Digital radiographs are more acceptable nowadays. Also the post treatment maxillary and mandibular intraoral occlusal photographs are missing in the manuscript [5].

4. In the article “An Unusual Case Report of Compound Odontoma Associated with Unerupted Primary Lateral Incisor” the histopathological evaluation of the Odontoma is not discussed in the manuscript alongwith the figures of biopsy showing the characteristic histologic features of the odontome [6].

5. In the article “A Short Review of Common Viral Lesions Seen in the Oral Cavity of Children” provides information about the ulcerative lesions which tend to occur in children. Therefore, parents should read carefully. This manuscript gives more insights into symptoms of Human Herpesvirus (HHV) and multiple herpes. It also can help dentists and physicians understand the cause of children who had HHV or how to recur and further improve their future treatments. What is the meaning of mimic mononucleosis? Does HHV-5/ cytomegalovirus increase? Feature and treatment of virus should be organized into a more clear form so that every reader could read it easier [4].

6. The issue lacks an original research article.
