Abstract

Dietary patterns significantly influence cardiovascular disease risk. Healthier diets, such as Mediterranean or DASH, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fiber, and omega-3s, consistently reduce heart disease incidence. Conversely, high consumption of processed foods, unhealthy fats, sodium, red and processed meats, and ultra-processed foods substantially increases this risk. The evidence from numerous reviews and meta-analyses strongly supports a holistic approach to diet. Prioritizing whole, unprocessed foods and specific nutrient interventions are crucial for preventing and managing cardiovascular disease, emphasizing the measurable impact of food choices on long-term heart health outcomes.
