Abstract

This review synthesizes current evidence on nutritional strategies for diabetes management. Medical Nutrition Therapy, personalized nutrition, low-carbohydrate, Mediterranean, and plant-based diets significantly improve glycemic control and body weight. Low Glycemic Index diets, higher protein with lower refined carbohydrates, and increased dietary fiber also show benefits. Intermittent fasting presents a promising approach. These diverse interventions underscore the critical role of tailored nutritional approaches in preventing and managing type 2 diabetes, highlighting the need for individualized, evidence-based dietary recommendations to optimize patient outcomes.
