Biography

Dr. Zhan received his doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2000, from Tsinghua University, China. After that he obtained Postdoctoral Fellowship on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) physics in Cornell University Medical College, New York and then in 2003 worked as a Staff Fellow in National Institutes of Health (NIH), Maryland. Since 2007, Dr. Zhan was working as an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Medical Imaging, in University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). After May 2011, he has been appointed as the MR Physicist at Maryland Neuroimaging Center, University of Maryland. Dr. Zhan’s current research interests include MRI data acquisition, processing, modeling and analysis, with emphasis on diffusion MRI and resting-state functional MRI for human brain. Multimodal analysis of combined different MRI modalities is focused to improve sensitivity and reliability of image biomarker identification. The research goal is to improve the understanding of brain structures and functions, for a broad spectrum of applications on neurological, psychiatric and psychological studies.
