In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives. India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with the Thailand and Indonesia. India became one of the fastest-growing major economies. it is considered a newly industrialised country. India continues to face the challenges of poverty, corruption, malnutrition and inadequate public healthcare.

There are totally 12 Noble Laureates in India in the fields of Medicine, Chemistry, Literature. Sir Ronald Ross awarded by the Noble prize for the discovery of malaria and Har Gobind Khorana got noble prize for the discovery of RNA. Recently Oncology field is mainly growing importance.
