Abstract
Monoolein (MO) cubic phase containing poly(vinyl alcohol)/epoxypropoxy coumarin (PVA-EPC) was prepared for a photo-dependent release. Hydrophobically modifi ed PVA (HmPVA) was prepared by graft ing PVA with decanoyl chloride (DC) with PVA/DC molar ratio of 1/1 for immobilization of PVA-EPC in MO cubic phase. Th e HmPVA having EPC (HmPVA-EPC) was prepared by reacting the HmPVA with EPC in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) with HmPVA/ EPC molar ratio of 1/20. Th e photo-dimerizations of PVA-EPC and HmPVA-EPC were observed under UV light of 254nm (6W). MO cubic phases containing HmPVA-EPC and FITC-dextran were dimerized using UV light of 254nm (6W) during 3hr for photodependent release. Th e % release of FITC-dextran from MO cubic phase treated with UV light of 254nm was signifi cantly lower than that MO cubic phase untreated with UV light, possibly due to the photo-dimerization. Th e photo-dependent MO cubic phase containing HmPVA-EPC would be used in the photo anti-cancer therapy.
