Biography

Dr. Keyur Patel is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Hematopathology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (UTMDACC). He obtained medical school education at Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College in India (1999) and immigrated to US to pursue doctoral research training in molecular pathogenesis at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA. Upon completion of PhD training in 2004, he joined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency program at the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in Long Island, NY. Dr. Patel has obtained subspecialty training in Hematopathology (Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY, 2009) and Molecular Genetic Pathology (UTMDACC, 2010).
 

Research Interest

His research focus is on elucidating pathologic mechanisms in hematologic malignancies using novel molecular techniques. His current projects involve understanding the role of miRNA and novel genetic mutations in hematologic malignancies and translating this knowledge into novel molecular diagnostic approaches for personalized cancer management.
