Proteins, the main components of metabolic and signaling pathways in cells, are vital for living organisms. Thus, the identification and characterization of proteins involved in particular physiological processes is important in life sciences and biotechnology research. Proteomics, the study of protein structure and function, includes detailed characterization of proteins. Proteins undergo post-translation modifications (PTMs), which are crucial for their regulation, targeting and interaction with other proteins and cellular components.
