Biography

Faruk Sheikh, Ph.D. is a Senior Staff Fellow in the Division of Biotechnology Research and Review at the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation & Research in Silver Spring, Maryland. Dr. Sheikh received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Calcutta University, Calcutta, India in 1996. Before receiving Ph.D. in 1993, he received Research Service Training in the Cell Biology division at the Harvard Medical School, Harvard University. Dr. Sheikh was a recipient of a postdoctoral fellowship award from the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) to conduct studies at the FDA on the regulation of cytokine signaling and gene expression in the laboratory of Dr. Raymond Donnelly. He continues to pursue this research interests in the area of cytokine signaling and function while also serving as an FDA regulatory reviewer regarding the clinical application of recombinant cytokines and cytokine related products.
