Dr. Ayotunde James fasunla began his career in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology in 2002 at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan and subsequently had further training in rhinology and head & neck oncology surgery at the Philipps University, Marburg, Germany where he obtained an academic degree of Doctor of Human Medicine (MD) in 2011. Dr. Fasunla currently works as an academic researcher at the University of Ibadan. He is also involved in the teaching and training of medical students, dental students, resident doctors, and other health care professionals in otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery and holds an honorary consultant position at the university College Hospital, Ibadan. His clinical work is in general otorhinolaryngology with special interests in rhinology, head & neck oncology surgery and audiology. Since the inception of his career, He had been involved in scientific researches across the field of general otorhinolaryngology and currently investigating the effects of maternal HIV infection and antiretroviral medications on the hearing integrity of HIV-exposed newborns. He is also investigating the hearing, olfaction and gustation of HIV infected adults.
