Charlotte Parent, New Orleans' health director, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, USA. since January 2014, credited with leading implementation of the city's smoke-free ordinance in 2015, which banned smoking the last remaining public venues where it had been permissible bars, night clubs and Harrah's Casino. She also served a vice-chairman of the Orleans Parish Hospital Service District A board. She is joining LCMC Health, the network that includes Children's Hospital, Touro Infirmary and management of University Medical Center, as its assistant vice president of community affairs and network navigation. She joined the city's health department in 2007 and replaced Dr. Karen DeSalvo, who left for a position in the Obama administration.
