Helena Hwangan is an assistant professor and pathologist at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from the University of Southern California Medical School and did pathology residency at the University of California, San Diego and Northwestern University followed by a subsequent breast pathology fellowship at Northwestern University. She did a year of residency in internal medicine at the University of New Mexico.
Helena Hwangan’s areas of interest are breast and gynecologic pathology. In breast pathology, her research focus is on invasive breast carcinoma, DCIS, and lobular neoplasia, and in differences in breast cancer between Caucasian and African American women. In gynecologic pathology, her research interest lies in endometrial and serous carcinomas and in pursuing new markers to help in classification and diagnosis of gynecologic neoplasms
