Biography

Dr. Yuan is an assistant professor and Director of Biomedical Imaging Core with Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Macau (UM). Before joined UM, he had worked as a research assistant professor in the Biomedical Engineering Department at University of Florida (09/2007-09/2012) and assistant professor in School of Communication with Arizona State University (9/2012-6/2013). He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Science and technology of China in 2002. Between 2002 and 2007, he had received several postdoc trainings in different institutes including National University of Singapore (2002-2004), Clemson University (2005) and University of Florida (2005-2007). His academic investigation is focused on cutting-edge research and development in laser, ultrasound and EEG/fMRI-related biomedical technologies including biomedical imaging and signal processing/spectroscopy, biomedical optics, bioMEMS, computational science, neural engineering and nanomedicine. He, as the principal or co-investigator for the above research activities, has achieved national and international recognition through more than 50 publications in high ranked journals and over 1000 independent citations. He was selected to be an active reviewer for over 30 top journals. He is a guest associate editor of Medical Physics and Applied Optics, and editorial board members of Journal of Biosensors and Bioelectronics and Biochips and Tissues Chips. He is a senior member of OSA and senior member of SPIE.

Over 10 years.

2. What is the research topic you are working on currently?

Neuroimaging and molecular imaging

3. What do you think are the attributes for a quality article?

Innovation and good applications.

4. Do you have any research funding at present for your work (NIH or other national funding)?

Yes. I have MYRG and SRG grants in Macau.

5. When did you become an editor of OMICS Journal?

Since 2007.

6. What is your greatest career accomplishment?

I help establish the quantitative photoacoustic imaging theory. And I set up the biophotonics group in Macau.

7. How does the published scientific content assist the potential researchers?

Help them develop new idea.

8. What is the purpose of serving as an editor?

Judge other peoples’ work and help develop the impact of this journal.

9. Do you have any patents filed for your research?

I have 2 patents.

10. Have you contributed any editorials or papers (any type) to OMICS Journals in the past two years?

Yes. I have contributed 5 papers.

Yes.

Very nice.

Very necessary.

Its impact is not so broad though it has been well established.
