Vandana Kumar

Biography

Vandana Kumar, D.D.S., M.D.S., M.S. is a Diplomate in oral and maxillofacial radiology and currently holds a position of Associate Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in the Department of Oral Pathology, Medicine and Oral Radiology at University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry (UMKC SOD). She earned her M.S. in oral and maxillofacial radiology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry and shortly after earned her Diplomate status from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. Kumar is also an internationally qualified specialist who received her training in dentistry and master's degree in operative dentistry and endodontics in India, before receiving her D.D.S. from the UMKC SOD. Dr. Kumar currently serves on various committees in the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and is the outgoing president of the special section of oral and maxillofacial radiology of ADEA. She has co-authored a position paper published jointly by the American Association of Endodontists and American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She has numerous articles and research abstracts to her credit and serves as the ad hoc reviewer to Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, the Journal of Dental Education and Angle Orthodont. She has also authored book chapters and made various presentations nationally and internationally. Her current interest and area of research are in the application of CBCT in implant dentistry and orthodontics.
