Wataru Yamori obtained his Ph.D in 2007 at Osaka University in Japan. He held postdoctoral positions at the Australian National University in Australia (2007-2009) and at Tohoku University in Japan (2009-2013). He is currently an Associate Professor at Chiba University in Japan. He was awarded prizes in several international conferences: Young Scientist Award in International Plant cold hardiness Seminar in Japan (2004), Early-career Plant Biologists Award in Gordon conference in France (2005), Early-Career/Hot-Off-The-Presses Award in Gordon conference in USA (2008), Incentive Award in The Botanical Society of Japan (2013) and Achievement Award for Progress in Agricultural Science in Japan (2013). His research focuses on the plant physiology involved in the regulation of photosynthesis under various environmental conditions, from whole plant to gene levels. Especially, a major focus of his research is an identification of factors limiting photosynthesis, plant growth and yield by transgenic manipulations of chloroplast carbon metabolism.
