Biography

Dave Hudson, PT, PhD, has been a practicing physical therapist since graduating from Ithaca College in 1989. He has worked with patients from a broad spectrum of clinical settings including in-patient hospital care, neurological rehabilitation, pediatrics, sports medicine, and general out-patient care. He earned a MS in exercise science (1999) and a PhD in biomechanics and movement science (2004) from the University of Delaware. He is currently an associate professor in the Physical Therapy Department at Western Carolina University where he teaches clinical biomechanics and muscle physiology, and he operates the Human Movement Science Lab. He has lectured extensively on topics related to biomechanics and rehabilitation. His research is primarily focused on understanding the relationship between lower limb structure and function as it relates to the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis and has recently begun to investigate the mechanisms of muscle injury associated with strengthening exercise.

Dave Hudson research interests includes: Aging and Bone Health Gait abnormalities and rehabilitation Lower limb structure and function and the mechanisms of injuries, Mechanisms of exercise induced muscle injury.
