Biography

Jinrong Wan received his doctoral degree in Crop Science from the University of Kentucky. He is now working in the National Center for Soybean Biotechnology as a research scientist at the University of Missouri. His research mainly focuses on plant-microorganism interactions and plant signaling pathways involved in such processes. His recent work has led to the identification of the long-elusive receptor for the chitin component in fungal cell walls, which was published and highlighted in the journal Plant Cell. Currently, he is studying soybean defense responses to fungal and nematode pathogens. He is also serving on the editorial boards of
several other journals.

Research Interest

Plant breeding, Plant disease resistance; plant-microorganism interactions; signal transduction components and pathways in plant defense.
