Research Interest

Dr. Lu’s research interest is on head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and he generated the first genetically engineered mouse model for metastatic head and neck cancer. The goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of head and neck cancer. It is hoped that these studies will lead to identification of novel biomarkers for future clinical diagnosis and experimental therapy. Dr. Lu’s research is sponsored by NIH, American Cancer Society, THANC (Thyroid, Head and Neck Cancer) Foundation, and Dermatology Foundation.
