Biography

Yiou Eric received his PhD degree in Biomechanics and Physiology of motor performance from the University of Orsay Paris 11 (France) in 2001. His thesis focused on the effects of expertise in fencing sports on the coordination between posture and movement during complex sequential tasks. I was then a Post-doctoral fellow in Neurobiology at the University of Laval (CIRRIS, IRDPQ, Québec, Canada) where he investigated the neuronal organisation of postural adjustments associated with voluntary upper and lower limbs tasks using TMS and H-reflexes techniques. He was currently an Assistant Professor at the UFR STAPS (University of Orsay) where he teach Motor Control, Neurophysiology of Movement and also Taï Chi Chuan. His research currently focuses on the adaptability of postural control associated with voluntary movement to various physiological and psychological constraints, in both normal and (more recently) senior populations. Movement analysis includes force-plates, accelerometry and surface EMG.

Research Interest

Yiou Eric research interests include Anticipatory postural adjustments, balance control, postural stability, gait initiation, pointing, sequential motor tasks, fatigue and fear of falling.
