Emily Piven
Biography
Dr. Emily Piven (Formerly Haltiwanger) retired after 10 years as Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas at El Paso. She worked in 23 rehabilitation settings. She is currently Associate Editor of two International journals and serves on several editorial boards. She has been a pioneer in her profession developing individual and group interventions for management of diabetes. She has presented her research at national and international occupational therapy and health education conferences. She helped develop an international online training course on Disaster Preparedness, Response and Recovery for occupational therapy.Research Interest
Adaptation to Chronic Disease, Diabetes Education, Role of Occupational Therapists in Disasters, Cultural Competency, and the emerging model of Neuro-occupation.
