Biography

Dr. Oglesby is a member of the founding faculty at the Kent State University College of Public Health. He came to Kent State in 2009 from the University of South Carolina where he served in several research and administrative roles in the School of Public Health and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Health Sciences. Dr. Oglesby is a practice-based scholar who uses community-engaged research methodologies to examine and strengthen the systems, methods, and policies that promote community health. He publishes across the spectrum of venues that drive system, policy, and practice changes at local levels with the goal of translating knowledge into action. His research and practice expertise includes community health needs and assets measurement, sexuality and reproductive health, and economic evaluation of health interventions; with some recent work focused on lifestyle medicine and substance abuse. Dr. Oglesby has worked on a career total of more than $26M in externally-funded projects, including more than $7M as principal or co-principal investigator. He is a reviewer for several leading academic journals in public health and medicine, including serving as Executive Editor of the Global Journal of Medicine and Public Health. He is a former policy consultant to the National Academies of Practice and is currently a member of the Lifestyle Medicine Committees for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the American College of Preventive Medicine. In 2010, he was named Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
