Biography

Dr. Balram Marathi is a Molecular Breeder working on the identification and transfer of important floral traits from wild species into cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) and maintainer lines to enhance out-crossing for increased hybrid seed yield, to map QTLs/genes for target traits, validation of QTLs associated with out-crossing and apply marker assisted selection (MAS) for transfer of floral traits into CMS lines. He has more than 20 years of experience in research, teaching and extension. He received Jawaharlal Nehru National Award for outstanding doctoral research work in Crop Improvement by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, India (2010) and Assam Government Gold Medal for best research work in rice by Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India (2009). He is reviewer
