Luci Teixeira-Salmela is a titular professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Brazil. She has a bachelors degree in physical therapy and has completed her masters and doctoral studies at Queen University in Kingston and her post-doctoral studies at the Université de Montréal in Canada. She acted as the director of the Department of Physical Therapy and of the Graduate program in Rehabilitation Sciences. She has supervised more than 20 masters and doctoral students and her research has been focused on assessments and interventions of stroke survivors. She has published widely in Brazil as well as in various international journals and is recognized worldwide as a leading expert in stroke rehabilitation, with many international presentations. She is associated editor of the Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy and editorial board member and is an reviewer of several scientific journals.

Research Interest

Luci Teixeira-Salmela research interests includes: Training and detraining with community dwelling stroke survivors: Impact on quality of life and on motor and functional performance, Impact of a combined program of muscle strengthening and physical conditioning performed in a fitness center on quality of life and motor and functional performance
