Biography

Dr. Ritesh Kumar received his PhD in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Delhi, South Campus, New Delhi, India. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Boyce Thomson Institute in Ithaca, New York. He is the author of 21 scientific articles, 6 review articles and 4 book chapters. His research is mainly related to the study of abiotic stress response and tolerance in plants including rice, Arabidopsis and Vicia faba. He is currently working on bioengineering maize and tomatoes to produce climate-resilient crops.

Research Interest

Plant Bioengineering: Rice, Tomato, Maize, and Arabidopsis. Molecular Biology Techniques: Genome Editing using CRISPR-CAS9, Protoplast Transformation, Gene Bombardment, Transient Gene Expression Assays, Molecular Cloning, qRT-PCR. Protein Purification and Western Blotting. Abiotic Stress Tolerance Assays, Plant Reproduction Studies, Plant Tissue Sectioning and Data Analysis.
