Biography

Mai Elfarnawany completed her undergrad in Biomedical Engineering, Cairo University in Egypt in 2009 and holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering as well from Western University. She has always been passionate about utilizing her engineering skills to improve patient outcome and hence her commitment to the biomedical engineering field. Currently, she is a postdoctoral associate in the Audio Biophysics Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Hanif Ladak, PhD, PEng and Dr. Sumit Agrawal, MD at Western University working on a number of projects involving image processing of the middle and inner ear and specifically developing tools to aid postoperative evaluation of cochlear implant positioning. She has several publications in the fields of medical imaging and image processing and co-supervises a number of undergraduate and graduate students.
