Biography

Dr. Irwin is the lead instructor for a course in Public Health Surveillance taught through the UNC Gillings School of Public Health. She served as Co-Investigator and Project Director for the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information Systems (PROMIS) project which aimed to create valid, reliable, and generalizable measures of patient reported quality-of-life. Dr. Irwin was also Primary Investigator for international studies that examined health outcomes of individuals reporting lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Dr. Irwin’s current research focuses on patient-reported health outcomes including quality-of-life issues and long-term effects of chronic diseases such as cancer. This research is currently being conducted through the University Cancer Research Funded UNC Health Registry project. Dr. Irwin is a cancer survivor and is passionately committed to promoting healthy outcomes for both cancer patients and their families.
