USAMRIID , US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases Oversee research team responsible for development of medical countermeasures against viral agents


Currently the chief of Viral biology departmrnt USAMRIID( US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases). Completed a doctorate in molecular virology that resulted in the characterization of the Norwalk virus open reading frame 3 protein as a phosphoprotein and a minor structural protein. Involved molecular cloning techniques, protein expression analysis by immunofluorescence, gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting, purification of virus from clinical specimens, northern blot analysis, antibody analysis using ELISA techniques, and extensive use of baculovirus expression system for NV protein expression. Completed an independent master’s thesis that resulted in the cloning, sequencing and expression of the sandfly fever virus Sicilian strain medium RNA genomic segment.
